Our aim is straightforward: disability support that fits the way you want to live. Your priorities can be practical, personal, familiar or new. You decide what matters, and we work with you to agree how support can help.
Values are useful when they show up in daily decisions. At Makodah Care, they guide who is involved in planning, how we explain a service and what happens when you ask for something to change.
Our lived experience model gives these values a practical starting point. Receiving supports, parenting children with disability and working across services bring different perspectives to the same responsibility: listening to the person whose life the support is part of.
Choice that stays with you
You choose your supports, who you want involved and how you prefer to communicate. You can say no to a support, ask questions and change your mind. If you want help making a decision, we explain the options and give you time to consider them.
A family member, friend or advocate can support that conversation. Their involvement should help you express what you want. Your preferences remain part of the discussion, including when someone has a formal decision-making role.
Thoughtful matching and individual support
We ask about routines, interests, culture and worker preferences. You meet your workers before supports begin and can request a different worker at any time. The support plan records the details that help workers provide support in the way you prefer.
Plans are reviewed with you. A change in health, a different goal or a routine that no longer suits you is a reason to revisit the arrangement.
Safety, dignity and respect
Privacy matters in your home, in personal care and in the way your information is handled. Safety planning should involve you and respect your right to make informed choices. We discuss risks and how to reduce them together.
Professionalism and communication
We explain the agreement before supports begin and set out responsibilities in writing. If something goes wrong, the Participant Handbook describes how concerns and incidents are handled. Feedback has a clear route, including independent options outside Makodah Care.
You should be able to find information, know what happens next and speak up about your experience. These are the everyday standards behind our work.
