The Central Coast has several town centres, each shaping a different part of local life. Gosford, Wyong, Woy Woy, The Entrance and Terrigal offer different starting points for appointments, activities and everyday errands.

Makodah Care provides disability support across the Central Coast. Begin with where assistance would be useful, the places you want to keep visiting and how you prefer to be supported.

Our lived experience model gives weight to the details you want a worker to know: your preferred communication, familiar routines and the way you like to spend time in your community. Across the Central Coast, we discuss those preferences and the support needed to put them into practice.

Keep your everyday connections

You may spend most of your time in one town centre or move between several parts of the Coast. A regular activity near home, a familiar shop or time with friends can be worth keeping in the plan. You choose which connections matter to you.

Community participation support can be discussed around existing interests or something you want to try. The location, support needed and individual access arrangements should be considered before an activity is agreed. A coastal setting does not tell us whether a particular venue suits your needs.

Plan around a changing week

Work, study, appointments and time at home can create different support needs on different days. It helps to explain a typical week, including when you need personal care, household assistance or help preparing to go out.

If a trip connects places such as Wyong and Gosford or the peninsula and another centre, share the actual starting point and destination. Travel time, the assistance needed on arrival and the return arrangement all belong in the discussion. Specific transport requirements need confirmation.

Know who is coming and what is agreed

Participants meet their support workers before supports begin. Our intake includes a pre-risk assessment and a meet and greet, followed by an agreed service agreement and support plan. You can involve a person you trust in these conversations if you choose.

Regular reviews allow you to discuss changes in your routine, needs or preferences. You can ask for a different worker at any time. The first step is a referral or a conversation about the support you are looking for.

Clear answers

A few things you might be wondering.

Do you cover all Central Coast suburbs?

The Central Coast is one of our service regions, covering all suburbs. Suitability and availability for a particular service, time or support arrangement are confirmed through enquiry and intake.

Can I enquire about several types of support?

Yes. Describe the combination you need and how the tasks fit together. For example, assistance at home and community participation may be connected parts of the same routine.

How soon will someone respond to a referral?

Makodah Care contacts every new referral within three business days. This is the timeframe for first contact; the start of supports is agreed after the intake process.
