Makodah Care is based in Weston, in the Hunter Valley. The region is home to connected towns and distinct communities, from Kurri Kurri and Cessnock to Maitland and the surrounding valley. Everyday life can involve several of these places.
We provide disability support across the Hunter Valley, beginning with your routine and the assistance you need. Being local provides a starting point for the conversation. The details of each support arrangement still need to be considered around the person using it.
The Hunter Valley is where Makodah Care’s story began in 2025. Our lived experience model brings participant, parent, support worker and management perspectives into support planning, while your own experience of life in the region guides the details.
Support where your week happens
A familiar town centre, a regular appointment or a connection in a neighbouring community may be part of the week you want to maintain. Tell us where those activities happen and how you prefer to take part. There is no need to replace an existing interest with a new program.
For home-based support, describe your everyday tasks and preferred routine. You may want help with personal care, household tasks or practising daily living skills. These needs can be discussed alongside the support you want outside the home.
Put distance into the conversation
The Hunter Valley covers a broad area, so the suburb or town alone may not explain the travel involved. Include collection points, destinations and required times when discussing community participation or transport. For a rural address, practical access information may also be useful.
Maitland has several centres and connections along the Hunter rail line. Whether public transport or another arrangement suits you depends on your specific route and support needs. Do not assume that a nearby station or service will meet every access requirement.
Start with clear expectations
Makodah Care contacts new referrals within three business days. Assessment and a meet and greet come before an agreed service arrangement. You meet your support workers before supports begin and can ask for a change at any time.
If you are exploring Supported Independent Living or more complex support, explain the circumstances in your referral. Availability, suitability and the particular tasks require individual confirmation. Regular reviews provide a way to revisit the arrangement after support starts.
