Disability support work involves being invited into the routines, homes and communities of other people. It calls for respect, careful listening and a professional approach to the responsibilities of each shift.
If you are interested in working with Makodah Care, tell us about your experience, skills, location and availability. An expression of interest helps us consider your background for suitable opportunities; it is not a confirmation of a current vacancy.
Our lived experience model sets an expectation for every worker: listen to the person, respect their direction and put their agreed preferences into practice. Your skills matter. So does the way you use them when someone invites you into their home and routines.
Respect the person’s direction
Our supports are planned with each participant. Workers need to follow the agreed plan, ask before providing support and make room for the person’s decisions. The way a task is done can matter as much as completing it.
That includes communication, culture, privacy and the things a person wants to do independently. Professional boundaries are part of the role, including how personal information, photographs, money and contact details are handled.
Be clear about your experience
Tell us about the settings you have worked in, the responsibilities you have held and the skills you can describe with confidence. Include relevant qualifications and training, together with the checks and certificates you currently hold.
The Participant Handbook sets out worker requirements before supports are provided, including screening, first aid and CPR, orientation and training relevant to the participant’s needs. Driving-related requirements apply when a worker transports a participant. Specific support needs may require additional training and assessment.
Prepare your expression of interest
Have your résumé, contact details and availability ready. Include the areas you can work in and any relevant qualification or certificate information requested by the application form. Your application should accurately describe your experience and current credentials.
You can tell us about adjustments you would need to take part in the application process. The Website Privacy Policy explains how information sent through the website is handled.
