Practical answers

Questions before you choose support.

Answers about referrals, worker choice, service agreements, support reviews and complaints at Makodah Care.

These answers cover common questions about starting and receiving support. For the complete details of our processes, read the Participant Handbook. Your own support arrangements are agreed with you through intake.

If a question depends on your circumstances, use the Contact page to start a conversation. You can ask for information in another format or involve someone you trust.

The handbook explains rights, support planning, service agreements and the responsibilities of participants and workers. Our Easy Read guides provide shorter explanations of starting, rights and complaints. You can use both formats together and ask us to explain anything that is unclear.

Clear answers

A few things you might be wondering.

What is your lived experience model?

Makodah Care brings together participant, parent, support worker and management perspectives. These inform how we listen, explain choices, match workers and review support. Your individual experience and preferences shape your support plan. Explore the model through our About us menu.

Who can make a referral?

You can refer yourself. A family member, carer, support coordinator, hospital or another provider can refer with your agreement or the agreement of the appropriate decision-maker.

When will you contact me?

We contact every new referral within three business days. First contact begins the intake discussion; it does not confirm a start date or availability.

Can I meet my support worker first?

Yes. You meet your workers before supports begin. Tell us about your preferences during intake, and ask any questions that will help you feel comfortable with the arrangement.

What if I would like a different worker?

You can ask for a change at any time. You do not have to wait for a support plan review to tell us a match is not working for you.

Can someone help me understand the agreement?

Yes. You can involve a family member, friend, advocate or another person you trust. We explain the agreement before you sign, and you can take time to consider it.

What happens if my needs change?

You can ask for a support plan review. We discuss what has changed and any updates needed to your plan and agreement, involving the people you choose.

Can I complain to someone outside Makodah Care?

Yes. You can contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission directly. You do not have to raise the matter with Makodah Care first, and making a complaint will not affect your supports.

Does SIL funding pay my rent?

No. SIL is support with daily life. Ordinary housing and living costs, including rent and groceries, are separate. Read the official NDIS home and living information linked from our Homes page.
