An appointment, a regular activity or a visit with friends can depend on getting from one place to another in a way that suits you. The practical details matter, from the point of collection to the assistance needed when you arrive.

Makodah Care offers transport support as part of an individually agreed arrangement. Tell us where you want to go, when you need to be there and what support you need along the way. The right starting point is the whole trip.

Lived experience brings attention to the parts of a trip that can be missed on a timetable: getting ready, communicating along the way and knowing what happens when you arrive. We ask about the assistance you want from door to door and agree the practical arrangements with you.

Consider the trip from door to door

Useful details include the collection address, destination, appointment time and likely finish time. Let us know whether you need help getting ready, finding the correct entrance, checking in, communicating with someone or arranging the return trip.

A transport request may be part of community participation, work, study or another routine. Describe the purpose as well as the destination so the assistance can be considered in context. A short distance does not necessarily mean a simple trip.

Discuss access before confirming

Tell us about mobility equipment, transfers, seating requirements, communication needs and any health information relevant to travelling. The proposed transport arrangement must be assessed for suitability; specific vehicles, modifications or equipment are not assumed to be available.

You may also want to discuss waiting time, a companion travelling with you, breaks or assistance at the destination. These details need to be clear before a trip is agreed. A service enquiry does not confirm a booking or guarantee availability for a particular date.

Know what has been agreed

Ask how the support time and any travel-related charges will be explained in the agreement. Transport costs can depend on the arrangement and the support involved, so it is useful to understand them before deciding. We do not publish a single price that assumes every trip is the same.

For ongoing support, our intake includes a pre-risk assessment, a meet and greet, a service agreement and a support plan. You meet your support workers before supports begin and can raise changes to your routine during regular reviews.

Clear answers

A few things you might be wondering.

Can transport include support at an appointment?

Explain what you need at the destination as well as during travel. Assistance while waiting or attending an appointment needs to be discussed and agreed; it should not be assumed to be included in a transport request.

Can you provide a wheelchair-accessible vehicle?

Share your equipment and access requirements with the team. Vehicle suitability and availability must be confirmed individually. This website does not make a claim about a particular vehicle or fleet.

Can I arrange a regular trip?

Include the days, times, locations and support needs in your enquiry. A recurring arrangement can then be considered, with the details confirmed through intake and the service agreement.
